Skyport Tycoon: laying out an airport that doesn't jam up

March 5, 2026 · Marta Lindqvist

My first Skyport Tycoon airport was a beautiful disaster — gates everywhere, no flow, passengers stacking up like it was rush hour forever.

The lesson was to think in lines, not clusters. Entrance, security, shops, gates, in a way people can walk through without doubling back. A clean path fixes half your problems before they start.

Put your shops along the walk, not off to the side. Passengers spend as they pass, and a well-placed café earns more than a fancy one tucked in a corner nobody reaches.

Once flow is smooth, growth takes care of itself. I now rebuild my layout every time the airport doubles in size, and the sim is way more relaxing when nothing's jammed.
