Iron Frontier: don't overbuild in the first ten minutes

June 14, 2026 · Marta Lindqvist

Every Iron Frontier run I lost early came down to the same thing — building too much, too fast. The game tempts you to sprawl, but a tight economy beats a big messy one every time.

Start by locking down one steady resource line before you branch out. A single reliable income stream carries you through the first waves far better than three half-finished ones.

When a wave hits, position first and panic never. The units you place before the fight decide it more than anything you do during it. I keep a small mobile reserve for wherever the pressure lands hardest.

Once the economy is stable, then you expand. Playing patient feels slow at first, but it's the difference between scraping through and actually enjoying the tactical side.
